We completed the first stage of our journey on February 12, aiming to share our sectoral knowledge, accumulation, and experience with environmental engineering candidates, support their personal and professional development, and illuminate their career journeys.
In response to the invitations from the environmental engineering clubs of universities, we held a presentation titled "The Career Journey of an Environmental Engineer" and shared our experiences and career advice with engineering candidates. In this context, we were guests at 15 events from 9 different universities.
Taking this step to raise awareness further, we established the Environmental Engineer Development Program; the Mentor-A project. We received over 200 applications from 26 different universities. As a result of the evaluations, in the first phase of our Development Journey, we hosted 37 environmental engineering candidates from 16 different universities studying in various classes.

In our first session, we hosted Mr. Kamil KASACI, a Personal Future Designer. We conducted our first session with the #CareerCheckUp, a new model developed together with Mr. Mevlüt GÜLEÇ for career and future planning.
Sponsored by Artemis Arıtım, our volunteer mentor and trainer team has a busy program and surprise guests waiting for us during this 4-month development journey.
The excitement and energy of our engineering candidates participating from various universities and different classes are indescribable. The story of our first session held on February 12;
The sincere comments of our participants after the first session about our program;
Ahsen Havva – Hacettepe University | It was a very productive program for me. I felt the importance and value given to us in every minute. Compared to my other friends, it was a bit more challenging for me to reach this program and gain this experience, as I come from outside the city daily. But this will definitely be a sweet fatigue for me, and the experiences I gained thanks to you will greatly guide me in both my future professional life and personal life. Thank you for what you have done on this first day and for what you will do in the coming days, for your efforts.
Ayşe Tuğba – Namık Kemal
University | The first day of training was a process in which I felt comfortable. It was a day when I could communicate very easily with my fellow participants and all the responsible individuals involved, and I started to get answers to the questions in my mind. While Ms. Emel's speech elevated my motivation, I felt much more at ease with the presence of Mr. Kamil. As I mentioned while sharing our ideas during the first day of training, I felt more valuable professionally, I had the opportunity to observe how much effort you put into this program, and I was very happy to be a part of it. I am looking forward to the upcoming training days. Thank you again for everything.Batuhan – Atatürk University | First of all, it was exciting because it brought together many people studying at different universities with the dream of practicing the same profession. It was a wonderful experience in terms of creating a social environment professionally. I strongly believe that it helped me clarify my goals. I am very happy to have the opportunity to meet with speakers who have advanced in their professions through Mentor-A.Bekir – Middle East Technical University | From what I observed and felt on the first day; initially, a nice motivational speech was made to break the sense of inferiority brought by societal perception for us young environmental engineering candidates. At the end of this speech, I felt valued. In the continuation of the program, we learned how we might encounter questions in professional life and career planning, and it showed that the training we would receive would be closer to real life than what we learned in school. The fact that such a project was organized with a sense of responsibility towards us made me very happy, and I owe you a thank you for this approach.Berrak – Yıldız Technical University | I had some hesitations when coming, to be honest, but as soon as I entered, the way you welcomed us and the motivational things you said when the speeches started were very valuable to me. I felt myself...I felt very good and thought that I could progress thanks to you all. Thank you very much for everything.Beyza – Yıldız Technical University | Although I was sure that it would be a beautiful project when I came, I didn't actually know the content. Once I arrived, I was glad I came and said that I would definitely continue.Beyza Betül – Uludağ University | I had no doubt that being part of such a social responsibility project would benefit my personal and professional development before participating in the program. After the first program, I saw that it was a justified thought. I found much more than I was looking for and hoping for. My excitement, desire, motivation, awareness, and gratitude continue to grow. I am looking forward to the next meeting. I express my gratitude and respect to everyone who contributed to this project.Elif – Kastamonu University | I was very excited when I learned that I was accepted into this program and wanted to tell everyone. However, when I told them, some reacted by asking what I would do there and why it was necessary. I attended the first program and felt so comfortable that it seemed like the people there really understood me. I thought that people like me could do very good work as environmental engineers. I could easily talk about my department. Before coming to the program, I had started to lose hope about this department, but after the program, it felt like the flower inside me bloomed again.Esma – Istanbul University | It was very exciting to see that a company like Artemis Treatment had such a project and that they did not hold back their support for us engineering candidates. I didn't realize how time passed from the beginning to the end of the program; it was very enjoyable. It was wonderful to be together with people who share the same ideas as you, and I thank you for never leaving us alone that day. I didn't feel shy because of the warm environment. I believe that a project with such a beautiful start will lead to even better things in the future. It made me happy to feel again that the door of Artemis is always open. I hope to have such colleagues in the future.The possibility of my employment has tied me more closely to my profession. I thank you all very much.Figen – Namık Kemal University | Despite being your first experience, it was a program that contained no amateurism at all. I am very happy to be part of this program, which will have excellent contributions to me. The importance you give to environmental engineers is impressive. I believe the Mentor-A program will lead the industry. The Artemis purification signature will be visible on the career steps of us engineers in the development age.Buket – Marmara University | Thanks to the equipped environmental engineers who spoke with us, our motivation and belief in our profession increased from the first day and will undoubtedly continue to grow as the program progresses.Handan Mine – Eskişehir Technical University | I had a wonderful day thanks to your working environment, the way you welcomed us, and most importantly, your high energy. I am more eager and excited for the next training.İkbal – Marmara University | Before coming to the training, I did not think such a regular and systematic program had been prepared for us. The company's trust in us more than we have in ourselves made me very happy. Their significant effort for us made me feel like I was in the right place. A warm environment was created with the people who came, even though it was the first day. I felt very comfortable, and it was wonderful to be with friends who have different dreams. I believe that being part of this program will provide me with a lot of experience and knowledge. The career workshop on the first day excited me, as it included activities we had not done before; I am in one of the most unique platforms of my university life. I feel very lucky and happy to be here and to be part of a program with a company that believes in us so much. Thank you all!İlayda – Istanbul University | We definitely needed such a project as environmental engineering students. Both from society and from what is written on the internet...Many of us are discouraged by the negativity surrounding our field. But I realized here again that I truly want to be an environmental engineer, and contrary to the general opinion of society, if I do my best to improve myself, I can reap the rewards of my efforts and succeed. Seeing this ignited a great hope within me and made me hold on tightly to my professional development. Similarly, seeing other hardworking, visionary environmental engineering students strengthened my determination to improve myself. In short, this program has led to radical decisions/changes in my professional career. I sincerely thank everyone who contributed.Kübra – Marmara University | In our daily lives, we rarely have the opportunity to spend a long time in the same environment and exchange ideas with a group of friends from such different backgrounds in the same department. I am very grateful for the creation of this opportunity and the rich program offered to us. During my time there, my heart was always filled with familiar feelings. I sincerely realized that we all share the same emotions and that our eyes are united with the same purpose. I am eagerly looking forward to future programs, constantly checking the program content and already making myself happy. Thank you for everything...Kübra – Yıldız Technical University | First of all, I questioned myself with the career checkup conducted by Mr. Kamil. I faced my shortcomings and the aimlessness that I thought was a goal. I set close, medium, and long-term goals for myself. Thank you very much for providing the opportunity to be with my peers and to get to know our sector closely before starting my professional life. It was a wonderful, fulfilling day for me.Kübra – Yıldız Technical University | I first met Mr. Hakan in March 2019 at a seminar he attended at our school. He mentioned that they could not find experienced environmental engineers and that the profession had degenerated. He then talked about the Mentor-A program. I followed his social media accounts for a long time regarding announcements about the mentoring program.I want them to get it. In December 2019, the news I was waiting for came, and I applied with excitement. Being accepted and being there was truly enjoyable. We were filled with energy on our first day with the career check-up. I am eagerly waiting for our next meeting where we will receive professional training. I would like to thank Mr. Hakan and all the Artemis Arıtım family who contributed to the program. Thanks to you, our hopes are blossoming.Mehmet Haluk – Karabük University | As a final year student and due to my light course load, I found myself in search of opportunities in my field, and I saw that the project I participated in from the moment I joined was very beneficial. Even though it was the first day, I believe this project, which took place in a very sincere environment, will add different experiences both during my student life and after graduation. I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who contributed to the process from the project preparation stage to the implementation stage.Melis – Istanbul University | Interacting with fellow environmental engineering candidates from different universities primarily excited and made me very happy. Each of them had different life goals and dreams. Our only common ground was our genuine love for our department and the existence of our dreams. Thank you very much for bringing us together and introducing us. It was wonderful to exchange information about different branches of our profession, talk about our projects, and the energy we received from each other. I really hope that such a project serves as an example to all companies in the industry; it was very important that you reminded us that the value given to our profession will start with the value we give to ourselves. The existence of employers like you is truly encouraging. In the project, we had the chance to question ourselves and our desires with the career check-up, create a sequence for our future plans, and determine our priorities. I thank everyone who contributed to the emergence of the Mentor-A project and for providing us with this opportunity.Miray – Istanbul University | The first time I heard about it...As I left behind the first day of the Mentor-A project, which excites me greatly, I felt how special it is to be part of such an organization, and I was happy about it. I would like to extend my endless thanks to everyone who contributed to this project, which allows us to get to know ourselves, identify the subfield we are interested in, and learn about the industry in light of the knowledge and experiences of expert engineers in their fields. I am glad to have been part of such a project.Murat – Sakarya University | I first heard about the Mentor-A project during a conversation where Artemis Arıtım participated at our university, and it excited me a lot. This opportunity planned to be presented was an invaluable blessing for us. I saw it as a place where we could express ourselves, meet with experts in the field to guide our careers, and while doing this, add value to ourselves with various trainings we would receive, starting a few steps ahead in the industry. As soon as I saw that applications for the project had opened, I applied, and I was quite happy when I saw that I had been accepted. When the first day of the project arrived, my excitement increased even more, and I set off towards the location that was communicated to us via email. When I arrived at Artemis Arıtım and saw the people running around for this project, trying to meet our needs, I felt valued. It was a great courtesy for the company officials to come and meet us one by one at the beginning of the program. After seeing the content of the announced program, I can say that my excitement doubled. I had the chance to meet my future colleagues from different regions of Turkey and establish a friendship bond. Now I have friends from many different universities. Finally, we ended the day with the Career Check-Up conducted as part of the program. It was a process that contained many different experiences for me. If I wanted to do the Career Check-Up personally, it would not have been easily accessible for me, but here we had the opportunity to experience it in the most effective way with the opportunities provided to us. No matter how much I thank for these opportunities provided to us, it will never be enough, but I am aware that the most bThank you very much, after graduation, our goal will be to do our job in the best way and with confidence. I can personally promise that from here. I am looking forward to the next event day.Öznur – Balıkesir University | I think it is a very beautiful project made primarily for us to get to know ourselves and our profession. My first day's experience made me feel that I was late, which led me to despair, but also made me feel good because I am sure that such a project will teach me a lot.Sedanur – Sütçü Imam University | A program that is far beyond what I expected. It was an education where I did not feel foreign and said, yes, I am where I want to be.Semiha – Yıldız Technical University | First of all, when I first heard about the program, I was aware that it was a very special and beautiful program for us environmental engineering students. I became sure of this with the first session we held. It is also quite important that such a program is conducted by an expert and established company in the field. The fact that the program encompasses not only professional training but also personal development has given the project a very different dimension. At the end of the first session, I saw that everyone is doing different things, making an effort for both themselves and environmental engineering, which made me very happy. I hope this project will be a pioneer, and with this project, we can also be pioneers and make a difference.Seren – Istanbul Technical University | I was very excited the moment I saw the project on social media because I had never encountered such an event related to our department before. Since I follow the company and think they have a very dynamic team, I thought the event could broaden my horizons and registered immediately. The first thing I can say about the project is that there were really people there who genuinely wanted to help engineering candidates. That day, an incredible hope filled me.I am aware that environmental engineering is a very important field, but sometimes my friends and even some of our professors studying in the same department seem to be unaware of this. Most of the people involved in the project that day were individuals who were aware of the department or were trying to be, and everyone was striving to achieve something. And I have now realized that the future we were told about this department has already arrived? Many thanks to Artemis Arıtım for making the project possible. I hope we can achieve great things with your help? Sümeyye Nur – Balıkesir University | First of all, I would like to thank you for bringing us together with our friends who study environmental engineering in different cities and different universities. Seeing different people and hearing different ideas renewed my perspective. I had a great time and I was happy. The awareness of my friends also made me happy and envious. I think the most challenging situation for a person is to face themselves and accept certain things. I faced myself and saw my shortcomings. I thought about what I need to do and updated the plans in my mind. During the program, I felt incomplete and thought that there were many issues I needed to address within myself. I didn't wait, I immediately took action the next day. I am happy for the teachings and for what you have given us. Thank you very much for your support.Yeliz – Onsekiz Mart University | I would like to explain that everyone has times of emptiness in their lives and they don't know which direction to go or what to do. The times when I was invited to this program were exactly those times. I was definitely very excited, and actually, from that time until this training period, I have tried to develop myself more. I have always been against theoretical education; I am against measuring everyone's capacity with the same exam methods, but that doesn't mean that theoretical education shouldn't be given. I prefer more exposure, that is, practical education. The idea of working with professional people in the Mentor-A project and receiving training from them is very appealing to me.It was very clear. As for my first experience, I saw that we were supported not only in terms of information but also psychologically, and I really liked this situation. I did not feel any arrogance in any of the friends I met there; everyone was aware of themselves.Zelal – Istanbul Technical University | Since we were among the first participants of the Mentor-A project, there was a sweet excitement between us. I felt from the very first day that it would be a very enjoyable program where we could establish beautiful professional connections filled with knowledge. It restored my lost self-confidence regarding my profession.Zübeyde – Kastamonu University | I felt happy about this beautiful project that supports and enlightens us youth for the first time. Alongside this, I realized that I am always in search of thinking differently, and that I need to make clear and definite decisions and put them into practice; I felt that I was not alone.
