Office Life

The use of technology in new generation workspaces, the flexibility of the space, the maximization of natural materials, low energy costs, high work performance, and improvements in work and living standards are now on our agenda as spatial analyses and data.

Open Offices Make Employees Happy

According to a study conducted by the University of Arizona, it has been determined that employees working in open offices are more active and less stressed. In the study, the heart rates and movements of employees working in open offices were monitored for 3 days through sensors they wore on their chests.

Closed Offices Bring Depression

According to a report published in the journal Occupational & Environmental Medicine, it was concluded that individuals working in closed or cubicle offices tend to remain inactive and are therefore prone to various serious conditions such as heart diseases, while also bringing about boredom and a depressive mood.

In contrast, it has been revealed that individuals working in open offices have physical activities that are 32% higher than those working in closed offices and 20% higher than those working in small rooms. The report states that the stress level of active employees in open offices is 14% lower compared to those who are less active during working hours.

Focus, Collaboration, Learning, and Socialization

In another study conducted by Gensler on workspaces, it was observed that the productivity in workspaces increased with the principle of "four modes," which enables employees to be "creative-innovative" in their daily activities.

Gensler Workplace Survey UK

  • Socialization; work interactions that create common bonds and values, collective identity, and efficient relationships. Talking, laughing, socializing, meeting, blending, celebrating, mentoring.
  • Focus; work that involves attention and concentration on a specific task or project. Thinking, reflecting, analyzing, writing, problem-solving, creating, dreaming, observing.
  • Collaboration; working with other people or group work brings success closer. Knowledge sharing, discussion, dmoaning, brainstorming.
  • Learning; we benefit from training and experiences to acquire new information on a subject. Education, concept development, exploration, teaching, reflecting, integrating knowledge.

In Gensler's research, we see that people spend 6% of their time on social activities, 59% on concentration-requiring tasks, 4% on learning-oriented activities, and 22% collaborating. Considering that we spend two-thirds of our day in workspaces, the environment we are in and the physical conditions provided by these spaces also need to be high-quality and high-performance.

The New Generation Office Concept is on the Agenda

We expect and wish for our offices, where we spend a large majority of our time, to adapt to the recent changes observed in work culture and habits.

Collective workspaces where employees can easily communicate are beginning to increase. When the layout of work offices allows employees to work with the people they need at the most suitable place and time, it has been observed that happiness, performance, and productivity increase, and strategic goals are achieved as a team.

As Artemis Arıtım, we believe that we are the best example of this change.
