You Have a Message from Your Treatment Plant
The automation and SCADA systems, which are the product of developments in information technology, are shaped by sectors according to their needs, and processes, production, and the operation of machines work based on automation, meaning that there is a kind of operation under automation control. This development in technology has also changed the role of humans; here, instead of operating or controlling each machine and step individually, humans have taken on the role of operating and controlling the automation system to which all machines and steps are connected from a single center. Thus, with the automation program, sectors have prevented human-related errors and facilitated their operability and supervision through centralized control.
Wastewater treatment plants are systems that are not easy to control, both in terms of process and equipment redundancy. Especially, we can liken the harmonious operation of many pieces of equipment in the field to an orchestra. Just as a bad sound emerges in an orchestra if even one of the instruments is not in harmony, similarly, in treatment plants, if any equipment does not operate as it should and disrupts the harmony, it is thought that the plant will lose its efficiency, which is why we prioritize automation in our treatment plants.
Leaving the control of all flows in the treatment plant and the use of equipment to the operator manually can ultimately lead to erroneous situations. For these reasons, implementing automation applications in wastewater treatment plants to keep up with advancing technology minimizes human-related errors. Plants that do not use automation systems remain excessively primitive under today's conditions.
Automation applications also prevent equipment from operating in faulty situations. Thus, it ensures that equipment operates for a longer lifespan. Additionally, these systems allow for the tracking of faults and issues that arise in the plant area and provide notifications in case of an emergency.

Since the early 2010s, the rising internet...
Application of IoT has become more of a necessity than a luxury, especially in recent times. In this context, IoT applications used in automation systems are part of the SCADA system. Thanks to SCADA applications, every situation in the system can be accessed over the internet.SCADA is an acronym formed from the initial letters of "Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition." It has been translated into Turkish as "Danışmalı Kontrol ve Veri Toplama Sistemi" or "Uzaktan Kontrol ve Gözleme Sistemi." In short, SCADA systems are a system that allows monitoring of facilities spread over a wide area from a single center using devices such as computers, mobile phones, or tablets. It is fundamentally a software. We, as Artemis Arıtım, also use this software in the wastewater treatment plants we are responsible for, which are used in nuclear power generation, hydroelectric plants, and industrial production, as well as in kilometers-long electricity and water lines. Thanks to SCADA systems, all data in the facility (tank and pool levels, chemical levels, equipment operating statuses, etc.) can be monitored. Additionally, all equipment in the facility can be operated harmoniously with each other in an automatic mode. In necessary situations, if there is a change in the input water parameters, the implementing company can make changes to the system settings via remote connection. With the help of sensors and measuring devices to be added to the facility, the status of chemicals in the facility, the amount of treated water (instantaneous, daily, monthly, yearly), electricity consumption, and water analysis values can be tracked. By entering financial values from this data, cost values per treated water amount can be derived. Additionally, this data can be stored on certain servers in an organized manner and can be written to a website on the internet.Perhaps the most valuable benefit of the SCADA system is its ability to inform relevant individuals via email or text message about situations that may hinder the operation of the facility or cause accidents. With this information, many incidents occurring in the field can be managed. When we relate this to our daily lives, just as applications like mobile shopping and mobile banking have become commonplace,If people can access information and requests that will make their lives easier on the road, in the subway, and in almost every environment, then even if the relevant person is off-duty, they will be able to intervene immediately with a message regarding the treatment facility, make the necessary correction, or direct someone to the facility to resolve the problem. Thus, the facility manager, who is peacefully sitting at home without being aware of anything when they are not at the facility or after working hours, will avoid encountering a bad scenario the next day when they come to the facility, such as chemicals being continuously dosed and spilled, tanks overflowing, and equipment not working, which would disrupt their peace at work for a long time.As Artemis Treatment, we believe that automation and SCADA applications have become indispensable in wastewater treatment facilities. For this reason, we support these applications for treatment facilities that work in harmony like an orchestra and for operators who are aware of everything and do not fall into trouble with instant control, and we recommend them to all the companies we work with. The steps taken towards technology may seem like immediate expenses and costs, but time will show that they are the most valuable investments in terms of environment, cost, sustainability, and ethics.
