What is a Waste Management Plan? How is it done?

What is a Waste Management Plan? How is it done? With the technological developments and industrialization occurring in the world, the rapid population increase has led to a swift rise in environmental damage caused by human activities. It is possible to prevent this emerging environmental damage. How? By implementing a waste management plan everywhere you are, whether in your office, factory, or home.

Waste management has been subject to legal regulations in our country since the 1930s, and municipalities have been assigned as the primary implementing organizations.

Waste has been classified according to its origin. These include municipal solid waste, industrial waste, hazardous waste, special waste, medical waste, and excavation waste.

What is an Industrial Waste Management Plan?

An industrial waste management plan is a three-year plan that encompasses the management process of all waste generated within a facility, from its formation to disposal, without harming the environment and living beings.

In facilities engaged in industrial activities, it is mandatory to separate waste in accordance with regulations, send it to licensed facilities, and obtain approval by doing this within a plan.

Now, let's take a look at the characteristics of how this plan should be.

Waste management in a facility primarily starts with separating waste at its source. Waste that is effectively separated at the source comes to a temporary storage waste area and is then sent to licensed companies for disposal or recovery purposes.

A three-year Waste Management Plan is prepared in accordance with the Waste Management Regulation, which regulates the principles regarding the separate collection, temporary storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste generated by institutions, organizations, and businesses engaged in production, consumption, and service activities.

Waste Management Plan

Our goal in waste management should be to create a recycling society that prevents waste formation and uses the generated waste as a resource. You can also start waste management by separating waste in your home, office, or factory. Creating a waste-free world is in our hands.
