DAY ZERO Despite 70% of the Earth's surface being covered by water, water, especially drinking water, is quite scarce. Only 3% of the reserves consist of freshwater.
Both the increasing world population and the rising temperatures due to climate change are making access to drinking water increasingly difficult.
According to a report by BBC Turkish, water demand is expected to increase by 55% between 2000 and 2050. However, in some countries, this rate is even higher. Worldwide, all countries, especially water-scarce ones, must rapidly increase their measures to reduce water consumption.
One of these is Cape Town in South Africa!
When measures to reduce water consumption in Cape Town proved insufficient, officials declared April 22 as "Day Zero," the day when water is expected to run out, based on calculations. Starting from February 1, they limited water consumption to a maximum of 50 liters per household. The target for the near future is #25Liters...
Turkey is also one of the countries experiencing water stress. Unfortunately, in our country, water resources are consumed as if they are unlimited. To draw attention to what we might experience if we face a problem like Cape Town's on "EARTHDAY" on April 22 and what measures we should take in advance, National Geographic released the documentary "25 LITRE," narrated by Gökhan Özoğuz and Özge Özpirinçci. The documentary, which raises significant awareness, also offers solutions to possible scenarios. As Artemis Arıtım, we had the opportunity to present our solutions for reducing water consumption in the industry and lowering costs at YTÜ Teknopark in this documentary.

How Should Water Resources Be Used for Sustainable Industry?
While resources are rapidly depleting, companies are now preparing Sustainability Reports at an increasing rate to cope with the growing competitive conditions. Because it is no longer a secret that in the future, only companies that take precautions in these matters and manage their resources correctly will survive.
We even need water to access energy, which is one of the most important resources in the industry...
When it comes to reducing water consumption, it is undoubtedly one of the first areas that must be addressed. In order to reach the level of developed countries, production is essential. Stopping production activities to reduce water consumption will undoubtedly put us in a more difficult position in the future. So, is it possible to both develop our industry and use our water resources correctly?Yes, it is possible. The prerequisite for companies to exist in the future is to achieve the targets in their sustainability reports. Especially considering that no company that cannot use its resources correctly will be able to sustain its existence in the future.Particularly, industries with high water consumption will achieve significant savings and cost reductions as well as success in carrying their companies into the future when they use their resources correctly. Many companies we work with are finding more economical ways to achieve their goals of reducing resource and water consumption through the technologies we have developed. Treatment plants are transforming from a cost factor into tools for saving. As Artemis Treatment, with the recovery and automation systems we have developed, reaching these technologies is no longer difficult. Finally, if you haven't watched the 25 Litre documentary yet and are thinking about how to save water individually and what easy measures I can take, I suggest you hurry. Because while you are reading this, our water is rapidly decreasing.
